I'm leaning towards RMGI SM-468 or SM-900 tape stock. On that topic, RMGI was sold back to the old BASF people The plant has moved from Germay to Netherlands to France (similar climate as Germany humidity production issue resolved). The new company Pyral after substantial capital expenditure to get the new plant operational in France was compulsorily acquired by Mulmann Industries, their biggest customer.

There is a press release here: http://www.rmgi-usa.com/resources/Spec-Sheets-&-Bias-Chart/RMGI-Pyral-Ltr.pdf

Mulann Industries will continue to make the tape stock under the Pyral brand with no change to the operations.

I am assured by the Australian distributor that the new tape stock is even better than ever.

But there seems to be some ambiguity about SM-468. Due to its low demand, it is available only by special order.

SM-468 has been used by Opus-3 and The Tape Project.

My Studer BIAS is setup for SM-468.

The push seems to be for SM-911 for archiving. SM-900 for studio and frequent use. Being a hot tape, apparently SM-900 can be prone to print-thru if archived for extended periods.

Anyone have the rundown on RMGI/Pyral tape stock production and stock levels? Myles?
