RIP Ozzy

RIP Ozzy was 76 and has given decades of music.

I remember the first time I heard Black Sabbath. It sounds weird now. I was a young lad and never heard the band before, I borrowed the first Black Sabbath album put it on my record player, turned out the lights and went to bed, the song Black Sabbath came on after a couple minutes I got up turned off the player and thought this can wait until day, LOL At that time the heaviest Rock I heard was Doobie Bros or Santana stuff like that.

I also enjoyed his solo material especially the first two albums with Randy Rhodes. No More Tears is great but over played on radio.

So great he got to participate in the farewell concert, his death was unexpected since he was able to perform.

Saw Ozzy fronting Black Sabbath somewhere around 1971/72. The Commack Arena after a Long Island Ducks hockey Game. They covered the ice rink with flooring or plywood. You could feel the cold of the ice below your feet. A few thousand drunk teenagers piled into that place. They were touring in support of the release Master of Reality and I think that's when I learned what head banging music was. That's also when my tinnitus started. Black Sabbath was one of one back then and Ozzy was in charge. It was a 2 hour riot and everyone limped home. Never saw them live again. Didn't have to, that sort of thing you don't forget.

I saw a video of Ozzy at a White House function during the Bush administration in 2002, he was apparently invited by a Fox reporter. The video showed Ozzy standing on the table and bowing. Bush teased him about some of the names of the Black Sabbath songs.

Ozzy liked to party the above reminded me of a few other news stories like arrested for urinating on the Alamo. The imfamous story of biting the head off the bat. Someone said one of a kind, I would say so :)
