hi
while the system isnt complete yet, i m thinking about what to place where.
cd transport, dac with internal pre, amp and the powersupply will be placed next to each other on a board.
guess the powersupply....

....will affect the other the most.
so whats your thoughts.....the powersupply will be nr.4 at the far right...but who will be next to it and who the most away? would like to place the dac right next to it as it will be easy to turn on the system (right hand and all on the right side)
thx in advance

Assuming the dac is nagra's hd dac and transport is nagra cdt, so i'd recommend hd dac on left, cdt in middle and mps on right. The dac is very well built and well shielded. As you know, the mps uses 2 dc umbilicals. If cdp (as opposed to cdt) it is likely the same recommendation.

thx
yes, its all nagra and the amp is the classic amp from nagra.....and the amp needs to be somewhere in the middle.
so do you think the mps wont affect the others too much?

Congrats on the nagra gear!
I would situate (from left to right) dac, cdt, classic amp, mps and just try to route the mps umbilical cables below / as far away from the classic's rear face / cables.

Or if you could do it, put the classic amp on far right. I noted that you didn't want to do that in your earlier post.

You could stack the cdt on the dac as well.

hey tunes, thx A LOT for your support and the cool pic as well.
hmm, dont you think putting one on each other would reduce the performance?
i think i go your way ..... (from left to right) dac, cdt, classic amp, mps

I think this is right also. I'd keep the preamp as far away (in this case it's the dac). You'll really like the MPS...done wonders for my Nagra VPS. And I hate to say this...the Nagra VFS are early heard to. I'd say on this the HD DAC first, then CDT, then maybe MPS before Classic...

I'll also say the Nagra gear is very well shielded. You may not notice here the MPS really sits...except for maybe in proximity of a phono stage...

thx.
so, do you think the amp is the "noisiest" of all?

I was going the other direction, I think the phono stage is the most sensitive....honestly, not sure you'll have much of a issue with Nagra here

It is my opinion that the positioning of one piece of gear relative to another is not the issue. RF generated internally travels to adjacent gear via the power cord. The well documented success of the Shunyata PC's, particularly the Alpha and Sigma series, is due to their ability to attenuate or remove this RF. They are specifically designed for this purpose. This is also why multiple dedicated AC circuits, with one used only for digital gear is often recommended. Many power conditioners have designated outlets for digital, with filtering to reduce the RF reaching other components. In my own system, I have implemented these concepts with great sucess.

Additionally, insidious RF is generated by multiple devices found throughout the modern home. i.e. computers, satellite and cable boxes, DVR's, etc. It is then distributed throughout the house via the house wiring. Attention paid to minimizing this influence will pay audio dividends well worth the effort.

Good post.
In the OP's system, a shunyata pc on the mps and classic amp would be a benefit. The dac and cdt are powered by umbilicals from the mps. If you use two dedicated circuits, put the amp on one and the mps on the other.

i had the most placement issues with the turntable and the phonostage. they need lots of free space and clean power.
