I found my UMic-1 yesterday, and downloaded REW. I did manage to to an exploration run, with the mic in my chair, held up at ear level. I ordered a good SPL meter for setting it up further.

While we are baby sitting today, I have been exploring some of the REW guides. Most seem to be a bunch of years old.

Does anyone have a more recent guide, or your own suggestions on getting things set up the best?

I have 4 pieces of corner bass traps, and a large flat bass trap. I had not used first reflection panels in my old room. I have IKEA Kallax units near those spots currently. There are 3 entrances to my room, a French door on the right wall, a sliding patio door on the back wall, and a standard door on the left wall.

I will need to try

1) no bass traps
2) 2 corner traps
3) all 5 traps

I will probably just run these with all 3 door closed. Assuming any traps are actually needed. But I want to find the “best” for critical listening, and a second best config for casual listening. I know there will be different door configurations during the different seasons.

I tried REW a few years back and I always found it more complex than it was worth - at least for me.

I was trying to measure in my listening spot to adjust the phase on the sub so it was 100% in phase with the main speakers. I never could figure it out.

I would check YouTube. There were some people who had done tutorials on it that I did find more helpful than just guide.
