Reliability of Sellers on AS

I noticed a recent post selling high end tubes from a member who had just joined (on February 23, 2019) and posted the for sale ad the same day. He has not posted since then, not even responding to some questions about his post - now about 3 weeks since the initial post.

My impression is that the For Sale posts within AS should give some level of confidence that the seller is reliable, since they are AS members. However, it appears that someone can join and post the first day of membership so there is no track record.

I would suggest that a better policy might be for there to either be a waiting period after membership for a person to be able to sell on AS or some number of posts or maybe a combination, so another AS member would have some sense of the person's reliability and trustworthiness.

I actually was interested in some of the tubes for sale, so this is not an idle post.

That is a very good suggestion. It irks me when someone just joins to sell stuff and then disappears. Let me think of some ideas and get back to this.
 
Maybe limiting for sale threads after some period of time has elapsed or a certain number of posts.
 
I am unfamiliar with all of the policies here on AS but is the author of the thread in question actually prevented from responding to e-mails until he/she has generated X number of posts. On many sites you do not get certain "rights" until you have obtained a specific number of posts.
 
Well, he has not even made a general response in the thread, so....
 
Forum Rules have been updated, and a new clause has been added:

"In order to advertise items for sale, members must have been in good standing for at least 90 days, participated in the forum and followed all other forum rules."
