Record Weights - Record Clamps

Are there drastic differences in Record Clamps / Record Weights? I see lots of different shapes, materials, and weights.

I see prices from $19.99 to over $999.00

Are there any rules of thumb or do you choose the one that looks the best?

Do you use them with felt mats?

I know like all isolation products, they do have a positive effect so I am just trying to get my head wrapped around all the variations and drastic price ranges.

For the Rega I would look more for a clamp than a weight. The Clever Clamp from Clearaudio or the KAB clamp. I use a clamp that i have owned since the 70's that uses the same principles as the KAB clamp. Look under Sound Accessories.
