Record label claims Amazon is selling counterfeit vinyl

The same article also said they sell fake CDs too.

God I can't stand criminals and cheats. Unfortunately you have to watch your back all the time to protect yourself from these scumbags.

In relation to music, have only bought a couple of SACDs from Amazon, and stick with the usual suspects, and not saying a problem can’t happen there, it just makes more sense to me.

Not that it is any better but it seems like the proper term would be "bootleg" since counterfeit infers that there is a real product out there that is being copied.

Of course, none of this makes it ok. I guess Amazon needs to do a better job vetting its vendors. Not sure that will ever happen. My guess is that they are legally protected by the agreements signed by those who sell on their website.

Never had any problems with that, even though I buy almost all my CDs from or through Amazon. But then, it's mostly classical and jazz.

How would you know?

I don't know, but I have good guesses that it's unlikely.

For one, the article states:
"Tommy Boy Records has claimed that Amazon is selling counterfeit vinyl – titles that the record label has never even had pressed to vinyl."

That problem (second part of the sentence) doesn't apply to my CDs.

Second, I dont think there is any commercial value in pirating esoteric classical and jazz CDs -- why do that if you can make much more money from million sellers in pop?

With as often as they got my orders wrong, I'm not surprised. It's amazing they became a trillion dollar company operating like this - I guess they cut all the right corners for their benefit.

I have never gotten any order wrong from Amazon, and I have made countless orders from them.

Their professionalism is not in doubt for me, I have more problems with their labor practices.
