I still have my Technics 1500 for sale. It was completely rebuilt and optimized by Jeff Jacobs of J-Corder. Has the best heads (Flux).

Let me know if anyone is interested.

Mike, let me know if you're ever replacing your doshi tape pre!

The Doshi is XLR, the Technics is RCA. Technically yes, with adaptors, but I have never tried.

Nick can change the connectors (or supply with desired connectors) as needed. For instance, he supplied RCA output jacks since my cjs are SE only. On the other hand, the heads are run balanced out so the tapestage has XLR inputs.

Or I had Nick convert one of the MM inputs on his phonostage to MC XLR. So I can run the VPI arms in balanced mode but the SAT arm in SE mode. Yes I thought about having the SAT supplied with XLRs but that would then preclude reviewing phonostage with only SE inputs.

Thanks Myles. I actually sold my Technics 1500 to Kevin at VAC. Happy with my Studer 810, but considering something for the store/shows.

Anyone can tell me about the Technics 1506? I have a chance to buy them.is it worth to consider ? He’s asking $1700.

My first higher end R2R was a 1506. Paid a fair amount more than $1700 more than a decade ago. It was completely restored and new heads replaced the stock heads, and lots of other stuff. Immaculate condition. Sold it in 2016. So condition and state of restoration is all important. People who restore 1500 series machines, like Jeff Jacobs charge a lot more than $1700. However, beat up machines which people are parting out can go for a few hundred.
