Quiet Non-Music PC Recommendations?

Went to Fry's at lunch. The nice thing was nobody looked at me funny when I stuck my ear up to several of the computers

There was a bunch of ambient noise, including an obnoxious display with Bose PC speakers blaring some advertisement, so it wasn't very easy to hear differences. The Dells seemed pretty quiet (a lot quieter than my all-in-one, and pretty sure it will be unobtrusive below my desk), but I couldn't hear the HP at all, so it wins on the quiet scale.

I've bought several quiet PCs from endpcnoise.com, and I've built several using some of their components. They offer a few totally silent, fanless units that are very worthy of consideration. For your uses a fanless design with ss hard drive would be a nice choice. I even have one for sale, if you are interested pm me.

If you are looking for a quiet desktop consider a custom built with a water cooled cpu and SSD drives. I have built a couple of computers from scratch but you can buy a computer from Cyber Power PC and customize it for less than you can build one. I have bought 3 computers from them. You can customize almost every aspect of a desk top. Their prices are hard to beat.

Pulled the trigger on the HP Envy 750-247c along with a 27" monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse from Costco. Thanks for all the guidance and advice. At the end of the day, I just decided to go low-risk and convenient. It'll still probably be this weekend before I get around to setting it up and transferring all the crap off my all-in-one. Looking at the monitor I'm wondering what I've done--it's freakin' huge! Didn't look so big in the store ;)
