QoBuz to offer DSD

It will interesting to see if they stick to native DSD/DXD releases (SACDs for example) or if they will upsample from FLAC and sell those as DSD/DXD. I hope the former.

I would think that DXD will be losslessly compressed to FLAC, as with all PCM, but I get your drift

Buyer beware, there are a lot of DSD offerings today that are nothing more than the original (non-high resolution) album converted to DSD format. I learned this the hard way years ago after having bought several DSD downloads.

There are just a few recording labels that do record in DSD format, but the number of true DSD recordings remains limited.

Using computer software (HQPlayer, for example) a person can take ANY non- high resolution file and convert it on-the-fly to DSD format for listening.

Exactly.

Native DSD & Octave records are two studios (may be others) that record and issue native DSD music.

If Qobuz gets access to remastered SACD based music and allows downloads (maybe streaming in the future) of the DSD64 files, that would be fantastic.

Imagine getting streaming access to the Esoteric remastered music library?

Prostudiomasters is offering quite a few of what appear to be the DSD64 masters for previously issued SACD’s; I think it is same at Qobuz. Also some higher bitrate DSD transfers of analog albums.
