Qobuz is the first music service to offer 24-bit audio streaming on Sonos

The web page seems to suggest that anything higher than 24/48 will be downsampled to 16/44.1? Seems odd...
 
That sounds like Sonos limitation. With S2, Sonos speakers now have support for high resolution audio, 24-bit, 44.1/48kHz for FLAC/ALAC only.

I don't think I can appreciate the difference on any of my Sonos speakers. They are not audiophile critical listening level speakers anyway but are fantastic for background/casual listening. Sonos room tuning goes a long way towards a well balanced, good sounding but not-audiophile critical grade speaker.
 
This will only work with S2 Sonos products. Eg it will not work with legacy Sonos products older than about 2 years or so(?).
 
Qobuz has offered 24 bit tracks for quite a while. Maybe this is new to Sonos.

I am not sure if anyone can tell a difference when using Sonos speakers. But if one can connect nice speakers to a Sonos system they probably could.
