Project phono preamps?

I have had the Gold Note in my system for about 2 to 3 weeks now. It is paired with my new Pro-Ject Classic Evo TT. The TT came with a Sumiko Moonstone budget cartridge and I swapped in my Nagaoka MP-200 which is a much better cartridge.
My initial impressions of the GN is good. It has a huge, deep, tall and wide sound stage. It is mostly neutral in presentation but on some recordings it can sound slightly bright which is a big disappointment for me as I am sensitive to brightness. However, it is very detailed and it is very musical. It has a full midrange despite having excellent air and transparency. It has good bass punch and dynamics. No complaints here. I am running it in balanced mode with XLRs. Gain is a little high so I may switch to single ended.

I was going to pair it with either the Hana ML MKii MC cartridge or the Clear Audio Maestro MM but I have decided to go with a warmer sounding Shelter 501 MKiii MC cartridge. I read that it is a good match for the GN. If not, then I will move on and buy a tube phono preamp like the Vacuum Tube Audio PH-16 with all the upgrades and bells and whistles along with an SUT. https://www.tubes4hifi.com/PH16.htm

The Vacuum Tube Audio PH-16 looks pretty nice. Quality circuit components used, too. Keep us updated on wha you end up with. Cheers.
