Had a chance to enjoy the current rendition of the house band here. Really exceeded already high expectations. Spirited traditional jazz; all of life's cares melted away in the uplifting spirit of pretty traditional 12 bar jazz. (And don't tell my wife, but I now have a crush on the Japanese trombonist Haruka Kikuchi).
The audiophile in me couldn't help but marvel in the acoustics of this small simple venue. No worries of 3D imaging here (is this really a feature of live music?)...but the tonal density, timbre, and dynamics were amazing, and my system isn't very close to this.
Should we really by trying to achieve air and 3D depth with our systems, or more the dynamics and remarkable presence we hear in live music?
