Would it be possible to remove the frames (sponsors, newest posts, trending topics) on the right, and expand the thread message portion across the entire page?

The Sponsors could be horizontal on the bottom, and the other two items just removed.

The benefit is the main part of the forum functions in a more aesthetic manner.

There are prerequisites and optimisation guidelines for Adsense placement. Implementing your suggestion would compromise the requirement and revenue stream. I know this.

If you want to be selective about your own exposure level, you can implement an adtrap proxy filter device.

Your other option is to use a higher resolution display to maximise screen width real estate. Eg HD, HD+, 4K resolutions.
