Police seek Amazon Echo data in murder case (updated)

I guess all these "smart" devices are good AND bad :S

Big Brother really is watching and listening. Do you think the Amazon engineers were clever enough to create Echo? No it was a CIA plant on their engineering team. Same thing with TVs. They are watching you while you are watching them and they are tracking more than what channel you are watching. BB is always watching, always listening. :disbelief: Really, I know this is true because I read it on the internet. :snicker:

People who live in glass houses should dress in the basement. :D

People really need to understand Tech a little more. There is no way to use the words Privacy and Cloud in the same paragraph, let alone sentence.

The device should be able to store the commands locally on a solid state chip, not out on the internet where it can and will be accessed by someone at some time.

Anyone who does everything over the internet, cloud devices, smart phones and other smart devices just has to understand that by purchasing and using them, they have given up some of their privacy, no matter how the lawyers want to argue it. You are being tracked in so many ways and you, (most people) don't have a clue.

The GPS in your phone tracks your whereabouts at all times if on. Your posted pictures can be downloaded with a right click and loaded into photo software which shows the coordinates letting everyone know just where your children play, you live, and everything else people feel they have to post about their lives on BragBook.

I hope they solve the murder in the conventional way. I don't see this as any different than unlocking a phone.
