Have recently read about using PoE to power a Regen, Rendu etc.
The claims by some are very positive.
Has anyone here tried this? Results? Pro's/Con's?

You must be hanging at Computer Audiophile on the sly, LOL

I was over at a friend's house today, that's where he learned of this. He used Cat 8 to his Ultra Rendu than he made one for the Re-gen. He got so hyped he's now going to put one any where he can. I guess there's some adapters that attach to the ends of the cables so they will go where needed, I didn't look at them. Seems if you just buy basic stuff the cost is only about $20 to try it. His homemade $20, which actually made two, out performed his more expensive whatever he had been using.

I was about to post when I saw your thread on the subject.

The change was quite noticeable. It really changed his bass response, it tightened up and remained powerful. There was overall more detail. I was amazed such a small tweak made such a difference. Seemed like the entire soundstage had more focus. It was an overall big change but the bass was dramatic.

I didn't know what he was doing when he made the change, he just asked me if I heard a difference, than we went back and played some tracks we played before he put the cables in.

At first I wasn't sure I liked the change, it introduced some siblilence, it pretty much went away after a hand full of tracks, not sure what to attribute that to.

Overall, a very positive tweak.

I have POE from my LPS1 to my ISO REGEN
There is a filtering effect and i use 2m CAT 7 Ugreen round cable.. Shorter cable less effect but Cat 7 ugreen is 24ga wire size so voltage drop is not so bad.. other cuttent limitation may occur
SQ improvement.. a wuieter soundstsge . higher crescendoes in music passsges dont sound crowded ir slight hardening of treble and mid highs... Highly recommended

Yes i lurk at CA a lot
Built up my Hqplayer system by research on CA
An Opinion here .. in my case Power and filtering is key
1. Linear PSU s for 12v, 19v, 5v , 3.3 v for SSD, HDd, Mobo, Fans, CPU
2. Elfidelity PCie, RAM, Fan , SATA III filters .. i use them all
3. PC OS.. upgrade from WIN10Pro to Server 2016 CORE Mode .. with Audiophile Optimizer best upgrade (cheapest too) but was a PITA as i had to relearn DOS and Microsoft code.. took me a week
why did i relate the above?
in my humble opinion when resolution increases and the system is noisy or digital sounding, then there could be comments about Hard Sounding doing tweaks like the PoE ..
same comment by many on CA About SOTM, improved clocking .. if the system is not up to it then SQ can become 'Thin' 'hard'
Transparency in SQ goes with enhanced power and clock timing
Oh my next 4-5k will go to clocking(??mutec, SOTM and others) Sigh $$$ keeps pouring from our wallets in thus hobby
POE is cheap Try it

Mr Peabody, guilty as charged. Gee, a guy can't get away with anything.
It seems illogical for something like this to affect any change in the sound quality.
After all you are still using the same power supply only using a different cable to get the voltage to the device.
And at that, sending it in the same cable as the signal.
But then Power Cables make a difference and that seems illogical also.
Not too long ago I put a MicroRendu in my system. It replaced my Mac Mini and outperformed it in every way. Hooked up via Cat7 direct from modem.
I remembered that I had a TeraDak P.S. and dug it out. Adjusted the voltage for 7V and substituted it for the Ifi PS with a noticeable and positive improvement.
So I guess I will give PoE a shot and see what happens.
Also a friend just received an Uptone audio UltraCap PS. So will be doing a trial with that also in the future.
Continually chasing my tail, but not dizzy yet. (I think)

Nice tweaks there! I have a lot of those too. Dont waste your money on clocking Weiseng. Try to emulate MemPlayer data structure and force you current clock to be less jittery.

Been googlin Memory player and their Software upgrades.. dont think it is compatible with HQPlayer upsampling on the fly.. JRiver SQ not ip to scratch esp DSD (lousy)
Do u hv any specific recommendation lome their IDEA, defractionalized Memory??
thx

Use Archive.org to look up their white papers on this. Cant recall the details offhand.
