One of my favorite disks in my collection still holds up today for regular play time. The tracks are all wonderful as well as all the players in the band.
I got to see them put this complete show on back in 1978 at the West Chester College auditorium. I was 17. The band was introduced by none other than Jaco Pastorious's father, as one of the tracks on this disk is a tribute to Jaco and titled as such.
All the players on this disk also went on to have fabulous solo careers as well as other collaborations. Mark Egan put out some solo work, notably A Touch Of Light. Egan and Gotlieb also formed a killer fusion like band called Elements and their disks are very well done on the Novus label. I also saw Gotlieb drum for several other bands after that in the Smooth Jazz heyday.
Any other fans of this outstanding work by the original Pat Metheny Band?
