I'm considering purchasing the new B&W 803D D3 series whose specs say a minimum of 50 watts and they are 8ohms
My Pass Labs Int-60 is only 60 watts with the first 30 watts are class A. Has anyone paired the 800 series with only 60 watts with good results?
thanks

If they are truly 90 dB (specs aren't always real world accurate) and your room isn't big (say less than about 250 sq ft) you might be just barely OK

I'd say more than barely. I drive my Magico S3 4Ohm 88db with Pass XA30.8 with great results.

I have had an INT-60 and currently have B&W 805 D3s. While I think the combo you are asking about will sound excellent, I think you would be better off with more power. I think the B&Ws like more power than you would think, based on the specs.

Wouldn't the Int-60 that has 60 watts even though only the first half is class A be more powerful than a 30watt class A?

The 30.8 has more power than the INT-60, and each makes twice as much power into 4 ohms as 8.

Now I remember I read somewhere about that. But how much more power 30.8 has, I cannot find any info about it.

Thanks Joe. Not sure where people heard the 30.8 is more powerful than the INT-60. The INT-60 is a 110 pound monster and will drive all but the most inefficient speakers. It's a great sounding piece.

According to Pass (and I'm pretty sure I also read it in a review of the 30.8), the 30.5 tops out at about 120 W/ch @8 ohms, A/B; the 30.8 about 90 W, and the INT60 just under 80. True, that's only just over a 1 dB difference between the three.
