Hi, I am new here and just joined the Pass club. I recently purchased an X250 amp and and an X1 preamp. I have the X250 and the X1 will arrive on friday. I can only hope that the preamp is as good as the amp.

I am hoping to make the schlep down to see Jack sometime before the end of the year to hear his driving the Danes. Who know, maybe in the future I may join the club also.

I miss my XA160.5's! I may have to find a way to get back into the club! Xa.8.....

My Pass X250 replaces a Parasound A21. While the Pass is a much better sounding amp, I have found that the A21 has better detail and resolution on stings and horns. The pluck of a guitar seems smoothed over with the Pass and razor sharp with the Parasound. It is my only beef with the amp, otherwise it sounds spectacular.

I am hoping that replacing the Van Alstine preamp with the X1 brings some of that detail on strings back. But I may miss some of the sweet tube sound of the AVA preamp. I am going to hold on to the AVA until I hear the X1 on Friday when it arrives.

Put some very good isolation under it like Stillpoints Ultra 5's or equivalent, you may be surprised.
