What are my options for the simplest and inexpensive way to be able to play music from a USB stick through a 2CH setup?

I can stream or use my OPPO 93 in my secondary setups, and my HT Receiver allows direct USB input.

What I am looking for is the simplest DAC that will run off of electricity, have a USB input and analog stereo output to feed to my Pre. Something like a FOOBAR but not for a PC and not using USB for power.

Does this even exist without purchasing a mega dollar DAC? My CDP is good enough, I just want to be able to play files through my main rig, which is old school.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Front USB for easy access? Do you want async USB too so that you can hook a computer up to it and stream files from a Mac or PC?

Really I just want to be able to play from a stick, without turning on my PC. I can copy whatever I want to listen to to a stick. I just want the simple ability to use a stick in my main rig without having to hook the OPPO up (swapping it from another setup to do so)

This is the best bang for the buck I can think of.....which has a front USB for a thumb drive. It's not balanced though. Not sure that matters....just pointing it out. Also - you would want to confirm with the guys at Music Direct that the front USB can indeed be used with a thumb drive full of music. I'm 99.9% sure it can.

The thing with the USB for thumb drives is that you need a DAC with a little screen so you can navigate the music on the thumb drive. Most DAC's don't have little screens and therefore - no front USB for thumb drives.

I think this Marantz could be the ticket for you.

Marantz, Bryston, OPPO etc. all have front USB ports that can be used for playing. Not optimal, of course, but it would work.

Thanks much for the suggestions.

The Marantz looks nice as well as the TEAC for a simple solution. I already have 2 OPPOs and at this point I am thinking a 2 meter pair of ICs and a few y cables, witch I have, is all I need.

In my main rack, the OPPO is coupled with the Integra HT receiver and analog out to a Rotel Receiver driving family room and outside speakers. I may as well just T off of that and send it to my VAC for main rig play.

After posting, I realized about needing a small screen for navigation would be the biggest issue and why there are no little FOOBAR type units for regular stereo usage.

The little Android sticks/boxes look like they will do what you want. There are hundreds of these things out there - not sure about the audio quality, but some will give you RCA and Optical outs and can hook up to a TV for navigation and playback with it's HDMI port. I have not used one of these, but am actively looking for an excuse to buy one.
(sorry can't post a link)

Thank you, good suggestion and the only thing wrong is that it will not play FLAC files, but still a good selection otherwise.
