Just that I’m immensely enjoying this listening session and it made me reflect on the fact that we spend so much time talking about gear and sources and formats, and we never seem to pause on just how damn good most of our systems sound, most of the time. It’s a forest for the trees moment.
It doesn't take big bucks to enjoy music. I have my cable on channel 949, which is classical music, and it is playing through a $500 Samsung soundbar. Sounds great as I work on the computer, surf the net, read the paper, etc.
I'm getting there. The other night I was sitting, stunned in amazement at what I was hearing. I pretty much like what I have built more than most any other system I have heard. This is through digital playback. I don't have the shear size of other systems. I don't have the resolution either. I do have a darn nice musical system. If I was going to change one thing, I would probably get the Live Sound Design speakers. http://www.livesounddesigns.com/
Heck, they were built for my amps. Can't top that for synergy. That or the Pure Audio Project Quintet speakers with the Voxativ or the Horn. Maybe both as they are interchangeable. That's a tough decision for me. I like my Pure Audio Trio 10. But, the only time I cried listening to music was listening to the Live Sound Altec's at Howard's place in VA. We were into a bottle of wine pretty good and playing Dylan - Blowing in the Wind. Through those speakers I understood Dylan in not singing the song. He is reciting a poem to music. It takes the right speaker to bring that out.
