NuPrime DAC-9 on AudioReview.ca

I had a DAC-10H. It had an issue with clipping noises on many DSD's :(.... Jason from NuPrime was great, but unfortunately the issue could not be resolved. I really liked the unit otherwise and I really loved the remote....

So I ended up having to go with a Benchmark instead....

Honestly, I think the Benchmark is richer, better sounding, especially with DSD; that was with the DAC2 HGC. The DAC3 is now using the new ESS9028 Pro chip which I feel is a fairly large improvement. My biggest issue is that Benchmark has choose to only support DSD64 and no higher resolutions which is bothering me to a point that I might actually consider another DAC.

Randy - Are you considering the latest V2 DACs from your buddies at W4S? Their new TOTL uses the best ES9038PRO DAC with exceptional quality parts throughout and should be an superb performer. Users are just starting to receive them and expectations are quite high, and W4S seems quite enthused about it. I'd be interested in your thoughts if you have a chance to audition it.

Maybe I could get EJ to loan me one.... can't afford one now.... maybe the new Oppo.... or maybe stay with the Benchmark since it serves as my headphone amp anyway... the only thing that frustrates me on the Benchmark is their refusal to support DSD above DSD64.
