In the future I'd like to upgrade my turn table. For me it is one of the hardest pieces of equipment to review. What is the influence of the arm and cart in relation to the TT. I use a Dynavector 507mkII and an Ikeda 9TT cart. I'd like to keep using these. If I'd buy a new TT My budget would most likely be between 4k and 8k.

For me the short list would be
Kuzma
Dr Feickert
EAT
J.Sikora

Am I forgetting any brand (available in EU) Not a fan of Transrotor, Avid and Acoustic Signature for some reason.

How do you determine the sound of a TT. How big are the difference? What would work well with my arm? What should I look for in a TT?

Any of those tables should work with your arm and cart. I’m thinking the Feickert or EAT might be the best match.

I'm only worried that EAT required a 12". The EAT Forte does look sexy. The white/green looks interesting.

Yes, I feel your pain.

One way is to buy the table fitted with an arm from the same firm.

Also I notice that some turntables seem to be always reviewed with the same cartridge, which again seems a pointer.

Do they still make Roksan tables? They used to do packages with arm and decent cartridge within your target price range.
