So I put an order in for a new system (did't pay yet!) I had an in house demo and sounded great any thoughts

1. Vandersteen treo ct

2 Rotel amp RB 1582 mk ii

3. Rotel pre amp 1590 mk ii

4. audio quest raker 44 cabels

For me a once in a life time puchace to replace my old Theil 3.0 and Tandberg seperates.

For under $20,000 total ( about $5000 left) any upgrades advised?

( I'm 70 so not spending my money but my "ungrateful" kids inheritance, no grand kids)

I need tone controls in a pre amp due to hearing My room is 24 ' x 12' . I'm creating equal lateral triangle, about 10' from each speaker & me, with the speakers about 5 ' in front of the wall behind speakers so 19 ' in front of them and 6 inches from side walls

thanks !!!!! dli

Rotel and Vandersteen make great gear. Congratulations, You should be very happy for a long time. Add a streamer or CD player as a source and be done!

That is pretty much what I was going to say. Sounds like a good base for your system. Any thoughts on what you will be using for your source(s)?

It all sounds good!

Having successfully voiced many hundreds of systems to clients' rooms, my only caution would be that equilateral triangles can produce some interesting sound, but usually at the expense of musical involvement - IMO & IME...

Also, at least try the tweeter-to-tweeter distance at about 82% of the ear-to-tweeter distance, and see what involves you most withe musicality of the system.

In general, the Vandies shouldn't be aimed straight ahead, nor directly at you, but somewhere in between - to your taste.

Hahaha, those kind of kids are everywhere lately ...!

I would add a Lumin T2. It’s a DAC/streamer all in one. Gives you access to Tidal, QoBuz, etc.

The Treos are terrific speakers. In addition to the Rotel, I would also consider a Luxman Integrated Amp. Also, the Lumin suggestion is very sensible.

May as well add the Rotel 1572 CD Player for $1K

concerning sources I have a rotel cd player cd 14 and a dac 1580 The cd player is a passive transport.

Interesting the rotel folks say the dac in the new pre amp is superior to the seperate dac I'm using so the cd player is going into the pre amp as a transport.

I play Tidal off my I pad that will go into the pre amp anyone had experience with this is the sound inferior to other ways to stream tidal

thanks everyone
