XP-12 Preamp (replacement for XP-10) announced in Munich via May 18 press release. Also XP-17 Single Chassis Phono Preamp. Did not see availability specified for either unit.
"Munich HIGHEND Show, May 18, 2017 — At Pass Labs, we don't change our products unless we feel that the changes are significant improvements over previous versions. Because of this we see typical product life spans of seven to eight years. "We are constantly working on and listening to new things and increasing our knowledge of circuits and components on sound. Eventually we find some things worth putting into production because they are significant enough. That time has come with a new series of preamplifiers."
I've been really happy with my XP10, it will be interesting to learn what the difference is. My only gripe and it's not a big deal, I wish the bypass was assignable to any input opposed to being fixed.
I bet there will be deals on the XP10 as well, or, maybe people wanting to sell to upgrade. I personally wouldn't be in a hurry to upgrade mine, sometimes the character of the new versions aren't the same. I mean, you expect it to be better but the company could decide to go warmer or some other direction.
Anyone see what the prices are for the new preamps?
After some of the guys here raved on the Wyred4sound SE preamp I've been curious about that one as well.
