The ABX Switch allows seamless switching of up to two preamplifiers, two power amplifiers, and three sets of speakers either with or without subwoofers.

This allows you to make true, repeatable, and scientific double blind component comparisons. Listen with your ears, not with your eyes!

The AVA ABX Switch can be used to evaluate cables and component parts as well as electronics and loudspeakers. It can also be used for those that have more than one audio system for ease of switching.

Controlled by a universal remote, the ABX switch has the capability of:

Precise volume level matching, within 0.1 db, of any system.
Blind test modes (either informal or formal) force evaluations by how it sounds.
Works with or without a subwoofer.
Programmable power-up state and adjustable display brightness.
Persistent volume settings power up the same as they were when last powered down.
Multiple systems can be set up permanently and switched in/out with remote control.
low noise.
Built in "Y" splitter can be used to drive two units with one source.
Allows selection of up to two speakers at the same time.
Mute entire system with a single button.
Gold plated RCA connectors for line level signal connections.
DC coupled (no capacitors in the signal path).
Ground lift capability should a ground loop noise problem exist (very rare).
$999

We suggest that the AVA ABX box is a necessary and very useful tool for audio clubs, component manufacturers, equipment reviewers, and just interested audiophiles.

Very cool. It would b nice if trade magazine reviewers would incorporate this device blindly into reviews and shoot outs.

Nick

If only ABX actually worked based upon on physiological grounds including but not limited to short term memory, inverted U theory, adaptation, stressors, etc.

Read the many scientific studies that show that inter-individual aural hearing differences swamp out any attempt to successfully carry out any sort of statistical analysis.

Besides look inside that rats nest. That won't affect the sound?

I think every objectivist should own one and make all their purchasing decisions based on this machine. I'm sure they will find out that not only was the emperor not wearing any clothes, he actually was a hologram and didn't even really exist.

I switch quite often between a solid state amp and a pair of tube mono blocks in my system. It would be nice to be able to switch between them without having to change the cables and speaker wires all the time. My only concern would be how the switcher would affect the sound. I will have to wait for reviews of the device first.

Me too. Could be fun.

I have been over to Frank Van Alstine's home and got to see it in use. I live 3 minutes from Frank and have done some reviews of his gear on the AC forum.

I think it would rank right up there with paying a Dominatrix to humiliate you and beat your ass. It would be an S&M delight if you are into that. That's why I said earlier that every objectivist should own one because they love to beat subjectivists over the head with DBTs even though they rarely are involved in real ones. Buy one and have a blast with it.

Is there one to compare different digital coaxial and optical sources, and also different HDMI sources (audio & video wise)?

...Two or three multichannel analog sources? ...DACs?

...XLR balanced, Asynchronous USB, Wi-Fi, Airplay, Bluetooth, Windows 7, 8, 8.1, DLNA, iPod, iPad, Ethernet, ...?
...All type of cable connections including wireless.

NO.

You mean, not yet, right?

I didn't have my crystal ball out and look into the future. You asked if there was one out on the market right now. I said "NO." I never said that one wouldn't possibly be made available in the future.

To prove what Joe? That short term listening tests are unreliable? That's hardly news and there's tons of literature on the subject. Not to mention that there's processing going on at the conscious and subconscious level and we still don't understand how or why short term memories are converted to long term memory.
