New Auralic Vega Arrived

I swear I didn't buy this DAC. It was definitely sold to me! :disbelief::audiophile:

Seriously though, I think this may be the best money I've ever spent on audio equipment. Bob Dylan in DSD on this device is the platonic ideal of realism.

Nice DAC, I love it. After getting the Lumin, mine is now in the secondary system. I saw their ad in the latest Absolute Sound where they say to contact support to get a firmware upgrade for higher speed DSD. I still need to do that.

Yes, the latest ship ready to play DSD256. The firmware upgrade is free of charge, but you need to send in the device. I wouldn't bother unless I wanted to sell it. For now there is no DSD256 to listen to. It is nice for "future proofing." And good for Aurelic for being proactive to ensure previous buyers of the Vega remain in possession of a complete decoding solution.

I got asked about the new firmware the other day (forgot on which forum/thread!), so here's the official word from Auralic...

They're setting up the service centers, where people and/or dealers will be able to ship the units for upgrade. The new firmware is version 2.0, and you can check if you have that by going on Menu > System > Next > About.

Will try to keep people posted as I learn more.
