I just saw a short news clip about vinyl records and their comeback on NBC and an interview with Dave Hansen, an owner of Independent Record Pressing in New Jersey. He spoke about the reactivation of the six steam-powered presses record pressing machines.

Some of the comments noted were "For some, it's not even about the music, but the nostalgia"

One customer at a local record store said vinyl "its fun".

For me there is something enjoyable and nostalgic about setting back and reading a LP jacket as the music plays. Sure there are a few pops and clicks but that's part of what makes it fun".

So what do you like about vinyl ?

Thanks for sharing Chris. I've been on a 3 week self-imposed digital hiatus. I unhooked all my digital gear so I wouldn't be tempted by its convenience and placed it on the floor. Vinyl/R2R only, with the Air Tight tube gear and Living Voice speakers is my system. I even went to my local Goodwill today and bought a bunch of great albums (all in surprisingly good shape) for $6. Gotta say, I'm loving it.

I'm very sorry to hear this, Mike.

Hey Mike since you have our digital stuff disconnected you can always send stuff my way for a demo :sneaky:

The one item in the news cast that I thought was interesting was the use of Stream pressing machines. I never knew that.

Pops and clicks don't make it "fun" for me. I hate pops and clicks. Pops and Clicks = I don't want to play you.

Those are not pops and clicks just you grinding your teeth. Wait a few years the teeth will be gone and you will like records

I just bought a Calyx Femto dac to upgrade my digital source. It is getting closer to good lp's but it still is missing something. It is like the digital is a very good copy of the analogue but not quite there. This is with redbook cd's, I haven't gotten into high res files yet (apart from a few SACD's that I play on my Oppo BDP-95). I am still purchasing lp's and cd's, r2r not so much as they are expensive.
