mystery message on 1110 display

My 1110/1160 combo is behaving a bit oddly. Recently on switching on both units from the remote have glimpsed a message on the 1110 screen which disappears within about 3 seconds, after which all seems to work OK. The message is "Amplifier error RightNeg15V". It doesn't always appear: if I switch the units off and then back on, the message is usually not there. The LED on the amp also goes white/red/white/red a couple of times, then settles on white and all seems OK, The amp seems to be working as usual when all this has settled down.

I can't find anything in the manuals or online about this. Has anyone else had similar? Thanks.

Why don't you write an email to Boulder direclty? It seems to me only Boulder technical staffs can explain to you what is going on with your gears.

Yes, Julian. Quite right and I have done exactly that. I just thought I would see if this is a common issue. I've had a reply from Boulder already - apparently it's a minor fault with the messaging system, not the amplifier itself, and I should be able to fix it via home network commands.

Thanks.

Great! Glad to hear someone at Boulder would reply to you so quickly. Hopefully it will resolve your minor problem.

Thanks for this, Buddy. It's reassuring to know one is not alone and that the amps stull work OK. If I get anything useful from Boulder I'll post it here.

Hi all
Well, it's not exactly fixed. The message still appears when switching on from cold (though the amps are on standby all the time). But Boulder say that performance is not affected, and I can confirm that. Kenzo at Boulder may be in touch with this forum to check with other 1110/1160 users.

I have never seen that message on my 1110. My amp is a Boulder 3060, not the 1160. I almost never turn the 1110 off and it is connected to the 3060 only by XLR, I separately turn the amp on/off.

The message is only displayed on mine when each is connected via ethernet to my network. If I switch the amp and pre-amp on individually there is no issue.
When Mike spoke to Boulder they indicated the message is not problematic, but a consequence of the low voltage turn-on sequence.

That makes sense. I have both units connected to the ethernet and if I switch on the 1160 first, the 1110 comes on a few seconds later but without any message. Seems to me that Boulder could add something in their manuals about this. But thanks for all the responses guys! Back to the music..

Now if Boulder would just get the long promised app done . . . I would like to be able to change color of the display, maybe make it red. What good is a color display if you can't change the color?
