Playing with my latest needless gadget: Hilti PM-50MG-22 Laser ($692 as pictured here)

In this pic we have a totally acceptable Home Depot quality level that serves many people well (the blue one).

But that does not make it OCD-Certified.

The yellow one is a Stabila level at 3x the cost and build quality (and supposedly much more accurate).

Stabila is a good quality level.
Any level can be accurate or inaccurate. Just be sure to check them before purchase.

Set the lever on a surface and look at the reading. Turn the level 180 degrees changing ends left to right and look at the reading again. If it is not exactly the same the level is not accurate. Be sure to turn the level over and make the same reading.

I tried a digital Stabila level years ago. You could lift one end of the 4' level 1/8" before the digital reading would change. I didn't keep it for long.

So far this one is much more accurate than the Empire. The manual claims there is a 3 second delay for it to settle accurate which is twice as fast as the Empire states.

This one also has two settings - a "rough" mode and a super sensitive mode I can change between. This affects the sensitivity of the readout and measurements.

We'll see how it performs.

What is the thickness of laser? Can’t tell from the picture. But if this is too thick, it will affect the accuracy.

Or, you need to measure more accurately on a wider light line from the laser. Left side, right side, center, 1/4, 1/8 or 1/16 the thickness of the line.
