I am not going to return to this topic but just wanted to wish everyone lots of luck with the vaccines. Based on my own research, I find it appalling as to what has transpired with these vaccines.

Main point being is that it seems to be one giant global experiment involving human subjects. Let's hope it works out. There has never been an mRNA vaccine that has been licensed for human use until 2020. Not for the lack of trying before...

Godspeed all.

From Wikipedia

Up until 2020, these mRNA biotech companies had poor results testing mRNA drugs for cardiovascular, metabolic and renal diseases; selected targets for cancer; and rare diseases like Crigler–Najjar syndrome, with most finding that the side-effects of mRNA insertion were too serious.[24][25] mRNA vaccines for human use have been developed and tested for the diseases rabies, Zika, cytomegalovirus, and influenza, although these mRNA vaccines have not been licensed.[26] Many large pharmaceutical companies abandoned the technology,[24] while some biotechs re-focused on the less profitable area of vaccines, where the doses would be at lower levels and side-effects reduced.[24][27]

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, no mRNA drug or vaccine had been licensed for use in humans. In December 2020, both Moderna and Pfizer–BioNTech obtained emergency use authorization for their mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccines, which had been funded by Operation Warp Speed (directly in the case of Moderna and indirectly for Pfizer–BioNTech).[23] On 2 December 2020, seven days after its final eight-week trial, the UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), became the first global medicines regulator in history to approve an mRNA vaccine, granting "emergency authorization" for Pfizer–BioNTech's BNT162b2 COVID-19 vaccine for widespread use.[7][8][28] MHRA CEO June Raine said "no corners have been cut in approving it",[29] and that, "the benefits outweigh any risk".[30][31] On 11 December 2020 the FDA gave emergency use authorization for the Pfizer–BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.[32]

Serge, only time will tell where we succeeded and where we failed.
And time is a precious commodity right now that we cannot afford to lose.

This subject on vaccines will outlast the virus itself and its provenance, I think.

It's like that boat stuck on the Suez Canal right now; its effects on commerce, and oil (price of gasoline @ the pumps). Here in Canada do you know how much is a liter of gas right now, ...way more than any vaccin so far. Best to stay home, not travel by gas operated machines and adapt to the new climate changes (electric cars, solar panels, wind turbines, wave generators, nuclear fuzion, advances in biology and biochemistry). Our humanity is frail, very.

Room service, order by phone, grocery delivery @ the door. ...Same with LPs.

Interesting, of course, is that the 2 COVID19 vaccines that don't use mRNA appear less effective, although since the mRNA vaccines used 2 doses in trials the data is not directly comparable. I would predict, though, that mRNA vaccines become more commonly used in the future, especially for diseases (e.g., RSV, Ebola, influenza, etc) where conventional vaccines have had poor (or no) effectiveness to date.

Serge , i really hope that you are aware that anyone can contribute to wikipedia so what one can read there is only what people have put up there . No neccesarily people who has an acutual insight into the topic. You can believe what you want.

Bob, correct. Time does tell. It typically takes years (as long as 10 years) to go through rigorous FDA multi step trials for new drugs to be approved. Not 6 weeks on technology that has not been proved successful to the point of being licensed. Now we are injecting babies as well as the elderly and everyone in between.

Odds of developing cancer during a lifetime 37%

Odds of dying in a car crash 1 in 108

COVID asymptomatic 45-50% population

COVID death rate 1,600 per 1,000,000 or 0.0016% of population.

Inject them all? Pregnant women and babies too now?

What kind of risk management is that?

If something goes wrong in months or years, who will be left? Or is that not important as long as everyone feels safer with 0.0016% mortality

Locking this now too. Final word. That’s funny.
