MQA for S1

What's with the popcorn? A yes or no is sufficient. If no then I need to start saving for a device that can handle MQA, since it seems that is the greatest thing since, well, popcorn. :)

Bud - it means we are watching the thread for an answer. I asked the Lumin guys at CES and was told it would support MQA. But it was sort of a "deer in the headlights" look when I asked. Like "what the heck is MQA? Maybe we should say yes. So, YES!" So, honestly, I don't know. Would love a proper answer myself.

Oh. That makes sense. Thanks. I hope it does as I am trying to keep expenses down now. That means I can't look at Ian's for sale threads. :)

Neither yes nor no. I've looked at MQA, but there's no decision nor update at this point.

Peter, thanks. It sounds like it is technically feasible, but no decision yet whether to do it or not. I was worried it wouldn't be possible, which is worse case scenario.

First I would love to see some darn music from all of these "labels" that are touted as being supporters. . So far not much is out there and I'm just not that interested in classical

Well said Chris. So far MQA for the most part is a Vapor Format. I'm a big supporter of MQA based on what I've heard, but note to Meridian: get on with it already.

When the music does start showing up, assuming MQA is adopted, I would like to be ready for it, inside of having to scramble around trying to play it.

I agree with Chris. I too am skeptical about the quantity of MQA titles we'll see. MQA could die the same slow death as SACD.

Welcome to the forum, Brian aka cycles2, thank you for joining.

Thx Joe. As I'm new to this Lumin section f AudioShark, I'll try not to be a pain with newbie questions. I just got my S1 yesterday and today my Synology 4 bay NAS and my 2 6TB WD red drives arrived. I'm getting ready to install the MinimServer server app. I'm using the 'Setting Up a Lumin Network Server instructions Mike posted.

I had an Aurender N100H for about a year and the operation seems similar. On a separate note, does anyone know if the S1 has a built-in SSD buffer instead of reading directly from the NAS?

Thx,
Brian ...

Well i am not sure i would care that much about MQA, as from what i have been reading, some reviewers did some small testing with MQA vs. non MQA and they didn't find any difference.....of course right now i dont remember where i stumbled over this reading other than it was on the internet magazine.
