If you take a new mono pressing (i.e. Sam Cooke below) of an old recoding - does it sound best on a mono cart? Someone told me the new mono recording pressings sound best on a stereo cart.

Thoughts?

Mike-You now have a mono cart right? Why don't you do a comparison with both a stereo and mono cart and tell us your findings?

I have 3 arms now and hopefully sometime soon I will be able to set up a mono cart and answer the question.

With the ARC PH6 mono recordings sounded considerably better when applying the amp's mono setting to those recordings, that was with a stereo cart though.

Have not tested whether a stereo cart + mono switch or mono cart with regular stereo pre sounds better. But I can tell that adjusting equipment or settings to the mono recording appears to make a difference.
