Back when I was getting curious about class-D, and reading about the next gen of modules to supersede and exceed the B&O ICE...the Hypex N-Core; Mola Mola was a name that was often mentioned in the same breathe.

Supposedly, this was going to be the first brand to come to market with the new units; but that was years ago...and obviously, though still not widespread, that shipped has sailed.

I'd kinda put Mola Mola out of mind...until I came across this ad https://app.audiogon.com/listings/s...er-2015-02-02-amplifiers-07853-long-valley-nj

IDK; late to market, small start-up...and in the end, is this just existing engineering...in a fancy case, with premium parts and cool terminals, for 18 big-ones?

It is purdy though. Maybe one of you big-money types...with the seemingly bottomless pockets, and never-ending thirst for new kit...should check them out, and report back for the rest of us poor schlubs. :P

You're late to the party. Mola Mola has been getting lots of attention on some other forums with more than a few people owning on them for awhile now. Some want to profess them as the second coming. One of their big selling features is that you can carry one under each arm.

Why not use the fancy, molded case? :snicker:

But Mark, silly you, you know its not how it sounds, its how it measures!

Ain't that the truth! If all the perfect measuring amplifiers sounded perfect, we would have all bought our last amplifiers long ago. Where's Julian Hirsch when you need him?

We got into manufacturing using those NCore Modules and tweaked them to make them sound half as decent ...
We exhibited at NY Audio show with TRL 600 - based on NCore 1200 modules ... we A/B'ed them for customers and went back to Allnic T2000 tube amps eventually and said good bye to NCore. We could have made a lot of money selling them - but they did not sound as good as less expensive Allnic T2000.

They had a really fine grip on bass - that's about it.

Some people really like them - we all have preferences. For me get the mids and then I work on bass.

Cheers
Sunil

I've heard the full Mola Mola system with Kaluga pre and Makua monos driving Giya G3s, source was brinkmann 'table. off and on i spent a few hours listening to the system and it was sublime, the room melted away with just the performers on stage. no hash, brightness or offending aftertaste.

Rob-are these your words or are you quoting someone? If this is your impression, are you going to be putting your VTLs up for sale?

I try to keep an open mind when I go to shows, and what I heard with Philips system impressed me.

maybe there's an inverse relationship between good sound at shows and what you hear at a dealer or at home. The Magico Q7/VAC setup sucked at t.h.e Show, I recently heard Q7s again at a dealer driven by Jadis 200s and it was pretty darn good.

Funny, I thought they sounded the exact opposite on the Vivids. Go figure.

I have the Makua preamp/phono and the Kaluga monos ,they are superb, as you would expect, Bruno is the leader in the field, and their new dac promises to be spectacular.
Keith.
