I'm a fan of Mojo audio. Mojo continues to win Awards for their PCM direct coupled DAC. They won a Golden Ear this year as well as a Blue Note. They keep racking up awards.
I have had servers feeding DAC for about 6 years now. I have been able to step by step improve the performance of my digital and my analog over these 6 years. I hear the changes hardware and software have on audio playback. Now I'm an expert, right? Of course not. But I do have an idea of what sounds natural and pleasing. I understand there is something wrong when the volume goes up but your ears say ouch.
In the past I have had 3 DAC. A Bel Canto ref, a deqx premate and an RT Audio. The later were decent DAC. The deqx dynamic with punch, the RT, smooth and musical. When I bought the Mystique it was immediately clear this was in another league. Just better.
It seems some gear gets written up all the time. Some gear gets all sorts of awards. Others get both. Mojo is getting awards I believe they deserve. They have an excellent product at a very affordable price. It's 10% off now. It's worth every penny.
It is a simple machine. If you want bells and whistles, dsd, fancy readouts, go buy another DAC. If you want excellent musical reproduction, get this DAC and focus on Redbook rips via DB Poweramp, or Tidal. If you set your system up correct, I'm pretty sure you will be stunned at where digital is today.
Fyi, I have found all my digital equipment to be very sensitive to the power supply from the wall. For what it's worth.
