the input impedance of the preamp is 10 k ohm
output impedance of the phono stage is 50 ohm
the cartridge is 0.2mv

the sound is little dead, can be better bass,focus....

the phono stage is setting to 70db (max)

thanks

John - Given those specs there's no obvious mismatch between the phono stage and preamp. There are so many variables in a phono rig, I'd suggest checking and tweaking the cartridge alignment, VTF, VTA, etc.

How about listing the brand and model number of the preamp and phono stage you are using?

phonopre impedance to pre look fine to me. what about cardridge and phonopre?

can it be that you are using the standard 47k impedance setting at the phonostage? low output mc cardridges tend to have low internal impedance.

the input impedance setting of the phonostage should be about 10-20 times the inner impedance of the cardridge.

f.e. quintet black - internal impedance 5 ohm -> phonostage about 50-100 ohm.

"dead sound" normally occurs with the mc phonostage is set to 47k.
