Seems very limiting. I was thinking maybe a unit like this for MQA files from another USB output on my music server. However it is hard to tell what kind of output it uses...

It would only be practical if something like this that works in conjunction with your existing DAC that only became engaged when a MQA file was being played.

For the money, it could be the answer to get your feet wet with MQA and have a decent DAC at the same time.

Maybe, maybe not. The only thing it would be good for is MQA. From what I have read it is a pretty so so, at best DAC. It is more for portable than anything else. It does not appear to be a good solution to add MQA to your 2-channel system. The Meridian is way too expensive.... like $22k.... the Brooklyn is ok, but not a good array of features to use as a pre-amp (i researched it when I ended up with the Benchmark)... only one analog input, no remote, 9018 portable chip, etc., etc. So yes it has MQA but not a good over all solution.

This seems to be the thing, for me anyway; unless you can afford the TWENTY TWO THOUSAND dollar unit everything else seems to be a half ass work around. All of these claims are made but none are fulfilled unless you can afford a 1/4 million dollar system. Maybe I am missing the point, but I would think anything played on this type of system would be amazing....

Otherwise, maybe a little improvement through software when streaming from tidal, but nothing for someone who buys their downloaded music and does not stream.... this is how I see it....

To win someone like me over they will need to release a device, something like the Explorer, that works in conjunction with my current DAC, but only jumps in when a MQA file is present. Now that would be a worthy add on device....
