Fell into an offer on a Melody AN300b I couldn't resist but it came without tubes. It took me a month to receive the odd duck rectifier tube which I sourced from Ukraine. The tube arrived today and I've been listening to this amp all evening with a pair of Lawremce Audio Violin's and they sound simply divine. I also have the Melody AN845 and the 300b is just as powerful if not more and has that velvety touch the 300b tube is known for. Highly recommended.

Melody is good stuff.

Can you post a photo? I wanted one of their 211 amps early on but did not follow through.

Joe, quick snaps with my iPhone but the 300b amp is just wonderful. I'm also including two photos of the AN845.

I am now playing Carly Simon's Into White album which may be a bit sappy but the instruments and vocals sound fantastic with a good tube amp. Give it a whirl on Tidal. This 300b amp is bringing out tonality and separation of instruments in my Lawrence Audio Violin's I've never heard before. This weekend I'll try it with my Reference 3A De Capo BE's and my newest monitor, the Trenner & Friedl Art's. Highly recommended amp, speakers and music. Lounging on my Le Corbusier LC4 chaise, with lights out, and loving this music. All I need is a great glass of cab and life will be perfect.

Now the big question. Do I trade up to the MN845 beasts which weigh 160 pounds each and put out 150 watts of pure Class A?

If you like the sound of the AN300B and your speakers don't require the power, then why trade up though I am sure Hugh will take your money if you are so inclined.

Joe

The Primaluna/Mystere gear is made in the Melody factory. Different designers but the same quality. The piece of Melody gear I would like to own is the Pure Black preamp.

There is an option to add the photos "inline" before you exit the photo management console. Click on inline photos and save and exit. They should pop up on the actual post.

Guys, how do I post photos directly into post vs. thumbnails?

Jack, why are you so sensible?:) BTW, how do you like the Lime Magnetic 502 DAC you have sitting in reserve? I'm intrigued by the brand and have heard nice things about it.

Hahahahaha,

I just got home from work so I'll be up for a while. My stereo sounds best now, so I take advantage of the quiet house and seemingly better AC and crank the tunes.

Joe, are all of us audiophiles insomniacs?

Congrats! 300b Magic! Melody is good stuff. As for the big 845's, I would stay put if you can. 845's put out a tremendous amount of heat and frankly, I would go with a 211 amp before an 845. If you can stick with the 300b, you may get more mileage from a new pair of sneakers....wait no, not that.....[emoji41] a pair of Western Electric 300b's and a Western Electric rectifier.

Thanks Mike. Curious about 805 tubes as well as they are more powerful than 845's, right? Sonically what are the differences between 211, 805 and 845?

I am selling my entire system. That includes the top of the line Melody preamp P2688. Very rare to come up for sale. PM me if interested.
