I love the price.

Dan,Mike.......A pair of McIntosh MC30 amps were my first McIntosh components. I bought them in 1968. I drove a pair of Altec A7 Voice of the Theater speakers (102dB sensitivity) with them and the McIntosh MC30's rocked the house, literally! Sure wish I had kept them. One thing is certain, those two amplifiers set me on a lifelong journey with McIntosh. I still love Mac amps and preamps and today I have four McIntosh based sound systems in my home. I had a spell put on me and never recovered.

Dan,
There is nothing like the Altec bass. With vintage amps like the MC30's, the synergy must be perfect.
Surely, there are sweeter or more refined mids and treble in modern speakers. But the Altec natural bass ? Nothing else !
The 15' driver does not go very low. Even in the VOTT. But what it does is just the most perfect and natural bass I ever heard.
I wonder how people like you who knew very well this sound could adapt to modern conventional speakers.
Yes I understand Dan.Jerome.......One gets accustomed to the change from the big Altecs gradually. When I sold the Voice of the Theater speakers due to their size and difficulty in moving, I bought a pair of Altec Valencia speakers. Then I sold the MC30's and bought a McIntosh MA230 integrated amp to power the Valencia's. That was a great combination, too, and I kept that system for years.
Yes I understand Dan.
I wonder what would be your reaction today, listening to a pair of Valencia in one of your systems.
