Magico S Model Price Increases

The M3 and S7 are very different speakers in terms of what they are trying to achieve. The M6 would more logically be an upgrade of the S7 and the M3 an upgrade of the S5.

For sure. But an important consideration for customers would be choosing their speaker based on the size of their room. Even though premium finish S7 is approaching the price of M3, if you have a large listening space, S7 might be a better choice than M3 (despite the narrow price gap). If you have a small listening space, S7 would be the wrong choice. There is a cross-over point where the size of the room might suit both, in which case, you don't need to stretch the finances too much further to get an M. If you're correctly matching the speaker to the size of the room, you're more likely to be comparing S5Mk2 vs M3, S3Mk2 vs M2, and S7 vs M6. And these choices have ample separation on price.

Obviously I need to book an appointment with my Psychiatrist. And my Chiropractor. And my Physiotherapist.

Is there consensus as to what dimensions constitutes a small, large, and medium room size?

What is it? My S5s came in two boxes like that. They are still in my garage, but each day I get closer to trashing the boxes.

My wife (although she is a big fan of the hi fi) has been getting more and more frustrated with the boxes. About 8 Naim boxes, assorted others. I had trashed the boxes from my former speakers and subwoofer, and then my A3's arrived. I told her that the dealer has to replace the boxes on the old speakers in order to sell them, and will be charging me. And that the same will happen with the Magico boxes - when we move, and/or I sell them, I'd have to re-buy boxes. She is now OK with me keeping the boxes. I think she didn't fully realize that they actually are necessary when re-selling.

My dealer had a good attitude; the boxes can be replaced, marital bliss cannot. The replacement cost for the boxes is relatively low if the friction, inconvenience, etc., of having them around is relatively high!

You said it what I was trying to say. If I have large room, I would check out both speakers.

I think that Magico bigger models can work in small rooms and vice versa (well, within reason).
It’s more about priorities and budget, so yes, if you can afford it, the M6 has it all, but if you can’t you will have to choose between the ultimate quality (M), or just “plain” pretty darn good quantity (S). Like I said before, on paper the S5 will be a much better value than anything the competition will have at 3X the cost. You can’t really say that on the M, it is more about the cost of diminishing returns, and how much one is willing/able to pay for it.

That's awesome! I can't quite imagine what it's like LIVING with so many hundreds of kilograms of speakers . . . but it must sure be fun to listen to! Might you share other photos of the room surroundings? I suspect that the Magicos dominate the room :)

The downside of living with so many hundreds of kilograms of speakers is living with so many hundreds of cubic feet of speaker crates!

Oh, the SSUB is still sitting on its wheeled wooden platform. I asked Magico what's the trick to get it off that and on to the floor. They said, unbolt it, lift it up, remove the platform, put it down on the floor. Obviously somebody there has a sense of humor, or wrongly assumes Brock Lesnar is my next door neighbor.

MIKE YOUR PM INBOX IS FULL AND NOT ACCEPTING ANY MORE MESSAGES

BTW. What interconnect do you advocate for use with QSUB?

Thanks. Just cleaned it up this morning. I use the dedicated AudioQuest Subwoofer cables.
