I saw this in Stereophile.

Do I know what it is? Yes. Am I telling? No!

Details will follow soon with an official press release.

It’s NOT an active speaker.

Re: Magico Active Speakers Coming Soon?

Strange that they have been moving away from "Boxy" cabinets. Yet this new one is very boxy. Probably A Series, lower than the S Series?

Re: Magico Active Speakers Coming Soon?

Hmmm, maybe an entry level A series.

Guess a cost optimized product, as it looks smaller, design is less elaborate and the tweeter is attached only with 5 screws instead of six. Drivers look simpler as well. Difficult to determine driver and cabinet materials based on the picture.

A new cheaper than S line. With the S1 being $12k, I am guessing $10k for this three way.

Good point about the number of screws. Wonder why they skipped the bottom screw. It certainly can't add anything much to the cost.

I find that interesting too, as Magico typically loves screws (Q7 mk2 has 600 of them).

Only rational explanation I can think of is that otherwise the screws of the tweeter and woofer would be too close. Maybe an indication of different cabinet material or even more likely thinner walls which would not take the pressure of two tightened screws so close to each other.

Magico Active Speakers Coming Soon?

Magico S3 mk7 ? [emoji57]

I think it would be about time for a model upgrade - my S3 mk2s should be almost burned-in by now, as I ordered them before the official sales start in Europe [emoji15].

Re: Magico Active Speakers Coming Soon?

I think they highlighted the “A” for some reason.

I think this is the first one in a new speaker line and this model is called A3 and it will cost around 10 000 US$.

If so, at this price point. But, now Magico will have 3 lines. Whereas Wilson and YG have one. But, If true 10k for a new pair of Magicos. ..

Good for Magico and good for the high end audio industry if true. It will probably be their best seller by far.

Re: Magico Active Speakers Coming Soon?

I never understood the need for major speaker companies to have three lines. Mimmicking Car lines with base, mid and high line. If this is a new entry level line it will take sales away from the S line. A lower price point will introduce more customers to Magico instead of only through Audiogon. Be curious to know what or who (dealers) pushed for this? I have read in the past the Asian market wanted higher priced lines, I wander if this A line was from the European and American dealer wants.

The $5K-$10K speaker market is very crowded.
