Lumin U1 Firmware 11.3 adds support for DSD512 and PCM 768kHz. DSD256 and DSD512 require a USB DAC that is Linux native DSD compatible e.g. Esoteric, many newer XMOS-based USB DAC. (Chord DoP256 should also work.)

DSD512 is useful when doing DSD512 upsampling using Roon or Audirvana Plus.

This feature is restricted to the original U1 (large), not for U1 MINI.

(Linux native DSD256 DSD512 are not compatible with Amanero-based USB DAC such as T+A, LampizatOr.)

Peter, have not looked at it yet. Does the new 11.3 firmware allow downsampling of DSD512 or PCM 768kHz so that if one's DAC for example can handle DSD 128 and PCM 384kHz they can play those files via downsampling? Thanks

No, but I suppose something like Roon, Audirvana or JRiver might be able to do it on-the-fly. Outside of test materials I don't think normal albums are available in DSD512 or PCM768 for purchase.

Peter - did it the update late last night. I understand. I do have a couple of quad DSD albums (and literally a couple, give or take) and was just wondering if there were any plans. I've never tried anything but the Lumin App with my U1 (and most of the time use the folder view to select things to play from Minimserver located on my Synology NAS). I do have JRiver (use it on my main PC and back-up PC and one secondary system that doesn't see tons of use - literally a few times/year). For the few albums I have in quad DSD (I think I have most them in quad, double or single DSD for comparison), don't think for now it is worth all that much hassle. My NuPrime IDA-8, which I use in the office system with JRiver can play quad DSD.
