I have a T1 and L1 incoming :rolleyes:and need to source an IPad, I am thinking of an IPadMini2, however I am told that the Lumin control panel is quite busy and a larger screen may be a better option. Any experience/ comments on this would be welcome

I have an A1 and is using an old iPad3. I am considering changing to Air for less weight, but would not consider a Mini.

Congrats on the new Lumin!

I have used both a mini and regular sized. I liked the mini due to the weight, but with the newer Air iPad, I went with it so I can easily see the screen without my glasses.

Congratulations! I prefer Air to Mini, for seeing larger album art while keeping roughly the same number of album art on screen. However, with the latest price drop Mini2 at $269 is a good deal.

I use the Mini Retina with no issues. I really can care less about album art since I listen to music, not look at it. Personally, I want an iPhone app since that is a more convenient remote.

Help !
I have a T1 fed by an L1. After copying a folder with about 50 ripped cd's onto the L1 from my macbook today, I deleted a number of demo files from the L1 that I did not want and then did an "secure empty trash" from the macbook which took hours. Since then the L1 is not working despite many unpluggings etc. The green flashing light stops every half minute or so followed by the red power off light briefly and then the blue power on light flashes for about ten seconds and then the cycle repeats itself. A few items appear on the app but the menu for selection does not appear and any tune selected from the folder menu only plays for a few seconds. Sods law that this happens on a Saturday night. Has anyone experiences similar and know of a fix?

hi Rod,

Sorry about the trouble!

It seems very abnormal that the "secure empty trash" took hours! Something seems corrupted on the L1 during the process...

Could you still access the L1 on your MacBook? If so please backup all the music file by copying to your MacBook internal HDD or another USB/network HDD.

Then do a factory reset on the L1. And copy back the music file to the L1.

wklie already posted the L1 reset method above my post.

Here is a re-post of wklie quote:

Thanks for the report. If using a SSD, do not standby the L1 unnecessarily. SSD do not like standby.

In addition to cloning, there is a procedure to format the drive inside LUMIN L1 (in case the drive needs to be replaced). This procedure erases all data (music) in the drive, obviously:

1. If the drive is not brand new, connect L1 to a computer via USB to delete ALL the partitions in the drive first (using Disk Management if on Windows platform)
2. Connect L1 LAN
3. Disconnect L1 USB
4. Boot up L1 and wait until the RED LED flashes
5. Hold the power button for 6 seconds

Note: even if the power button is held, the format will not be triggered if the RED LED is not flashing, so there is no risk of accidentally formatting it unintentionally during normal operation.

pmse, please forgive my lack of understanding:
I am running Mac OSX 10.6.8 If I use Disc Utilities to erase it shows up 2 volumes for the L1: LUMINSERVER and disk3s1 - do I use this utility to erase them both? And which format do I then choose:
Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
Mac OS Extended
Mac OS Extended (Case -sensitive Journaled)
Mac OS Extended (Case - sensitive)
MS_DOS(FAT)
EXFAT
Regards
Rod
