Hi everyone, this is my my first post. Last wkd I finally tried to set up my Lumin D1/L1 after buying used a very long time ago! This is my first streamer. The reason it took so long to set up is my fios router is miles away (~20meters) from my hifi. Therefore I bought the following cable (x2) and ran it along the basement wall https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WD017GQ/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I average about 50Mb download/upload speed, some days 30 others 60. Using 1 meter chord rca interconnects into a Belles soloist amp with Spatial M4 turbo speakers.

Followed the quick guide, the L1 was recognized. The good news, the albums i painfully ripped using my macbook and XLD software seems to have showed the album covers. Majority of music on the L1 did not show the album covers however (DSD files etc). It took a long time for albums to show up, and there seems to be a big delay in every thing, keep getting the load circle graphic. Plus i can't get music to play out of it properly, if i do get a track to play its very low volume and lasts for only a few seconds and sounds dead flat. Cuts in and out. I used the latest app firmware. Maybe a problem with the cables i bought (cas 6 not 5)? Will try again at the wkd but please, if anyone has some insights they will be greatly received. Thanks for your time. Cheers.

For album art, please make sure there is either embedded album art inside the music file, or non-embedded album art in form of a file named exactly as folder.jpg in lowercase.

On L1 boot up, it does take time to scan the hard drive inside for content changes, especially if you already have a lot of music there.

To verify playback issue, please copy a few files to a USB flash drive, then plug it into the D1. In Lumin app, choose the library as Lumin D1 USB Music Server. Play from there and see if the playback is normal. This way we can verify the D1 hardware is normal.

The next step would be to bypass the long network cable, by physically moving the L1 to somewhere close to the D1, such that the D1 and L1 can be connected to a switch using the ordinary short network cable. If you need to buy a switch for this task, get a Netgear GS105.

I use folder.png to avoid increasing/adding compression artifacts.

The D1 is working fine now, i literally just changed ports on the modem and bingo! Dumb question, how do i play full albums? I tap the first song and it stops after the song is finished? I have gone to settings and made sure the "follow on" tab is clicked? Thanks again for the help

Assume you are using the Lumin App? The tab near the top let's one choose how you want to browse the music (e.g. folder view, album artist, etc.). When I want to play albums I go to the album artist view.

Please tap and hold the album art, then you can add the whole album to playlist.

Yes, if you go up a level until you can see the album art, then press and hold, you should see a pop-up like below.
Using the buttons at the top you can place the whole album on your playlist.
If you are using the phone version of the App, then please swipe right to see the playlist to verify that the whole album has been added.

The 4 buttons have the following functions:

  • Play Now: Add selection to the bottom of the Playlist and LUMIN will skip to it and play immediately
  • Play Next: Add selection after the 'Now Playing' song and LUMIN will play it after the current song has finished
  • Play Later: Add selection to the bottom of the Playlist
  • Play and replace: Will replace the whole of the Playlist with the selection, and start playing
