Lumin app unresponsive when using VPN

I notice that when using, say, ExpressVPN on my iPad or iPhone, the Lumin app never worked.

After switching to ProtonVPN, which has an “Allow LAN connections” option, this problem seemed to be fixed - but I now find that the app can find the Lumin and control it only about 50% of the time.

Any suggestions ?

Most VPN won't pass multicast, so they're not going to work. The same is true for Roon.

I have Norton VPN on my iPad. So far, I haven't had any problems connecting to Qobuz with the Lumin app.

.

Also works for me with Norton VPN for iMac M1 and iPad for Qobuz, Roon, Lumin App and Squeeze with other DAC in my system. I do disable the VPN if I am using Antipodes website to discover web address for Antipodes web dashboard. However, I bookmark the web address for Antipodes control dashboard and do not need to disable the VPN when selecting the bookmark.

The latest issue I have encountered for the last several weeks is bad Latency. Lumin app unresponsive using Legacy Ipad and Android Tablets. Both are over 7 years old. It was so bad I had to see if the problem remains when using a 3 year old Android flip. Issue cleared up but still encounter on a few tracks a 50 second play before it restarts and plays right through the track. The usual troubleshooting with logging out, restart modem, removed -added Lumin software, hard reset Lumin, and so on.

I started removing and re-adding those tracks and will have more info about this later. I suspect the Wifi equipment maybe the contributing factor. No latency issues when viewing high resolution content on Computer or TV. Currently using Lumin U2 with SFP connection and loving its performance.

Check playback with local files (on NAS or USB drive).

If the 50-second latency exhibits for Tidal/Qobuz but not local files, try
toggling the Google DNS setting in Lumin app About U2. If you are indeed using VPN (since this thread is about VPN), try turning it off to see if it makes a difference.
