Lumin App Question

When I search in Folder view some albums have multiple repeats of all tracks. The media folders are on a WD My Cloud. Looking at the file folders there are no repeated tracks in the relevant files. I have a very large library. Also some albums are missing. With PLEX or JRiver these tracks are not repeated and albums missing from Lumin app are present. I'm using the Ipad and iphone versions of the Lumin app.
 
if I may tag along;

How will the L2 deal with this - is there an index rebuild function or whatever for catalogs. Does the L2 bring new app sophistication?

Are you using Minimserver?
 
I'm not using Minimserver.

And the question about L2 is appropriate because I have also been contemplating the L2 since it is now available. If the app is not able to deal with a large (9000) album collection it's a non-starter.
 
I'm not aware of any album size limitation using the App. I probably have over 5,000 albums. According to the L2 web page - LUMIN L2 I'm not sure if bigger hard drives are something which can be used. The page shows 8TB. I probably have about 5.8TB (give or take) on my Synology NAS. It has 8TB drives (configured in RAID 1), however with the Apps on the NAS only about 7TB is usable. I have many hi-rez files. The drives are probably due for replacement in the near future due to age. I'd be curious if Lumin will eventially have bigger hard drive capacity for the L2. If I update my NAS drives, I'd probably go to at least 12TB and that would probably be sufficient for me. I just looked at one of my quad DSD album folders and it is about 7GB (which means about 140 such albums per TB).
 
side note: another nudge at Lumin to provide downloadable manuals. The L2 is a perfect place to start - a manual that I can refer to on my computer, is, come on why is this not available? The website is mostly unuseable to me, I don't like (avoiding it completely, last resort only) the GUI. at all. :disbelief:

edit: I'm buying the Lumin U2 in silver this week. Just need to check with Mike first. All my digital sources are black but the D/A now is silver so I'm switching to silver on the U2.

currently: Lumin D2 spdif>Berkeley DAC 3.
planned: Lumin U2 AES>DAC 3
maybe later: L2 with understanding from our Lumin OEM friends, and this/OP's topic.

Lumin app only shows what is presented by the UPnP server.

If you can connect the WD to a computer as a USB drive, please try MinimServer on the computer. If MinimServer does not show repeated tracks but the WD DLNA/UPnP server does, you know where the fault is.

Lumin app does not have a size limit as long as you have a modern device with enough RAM.

MinimServer can also grow to a decent size if you choose proper hardware with enough RAM, and be able to configure its heap when necessary.

There is no way to connect the WD to a computer as a USB drive. Why does JRiver and PLEX media server not have extra tracks on these albums? If I search the folder on my computer that is on the network with the WD Cloud there are no replicated trackscontains these albums tracks.

Try to use Bubbleupnp (Android) or MConnect Player Lite (Android and iOS), they are both free, and check if the issue is there with them too.
If it is there then it’s a issue of the mediaserver running on WD
 
JRiver and Plex are servers. They are looking at the folders/files and not using the WD My Cloud UPnP server.
When browsing with LUMIN, you are using the UPnP server on your WD My Cloud.

I'm not sure how configurable the default WD music server is in order to remove the problem.
Minimserver is our recommended UPnP server (which can probably be installed on your NAS - see the Minimserver documentation).

Is the new L2 considered a server which is directly accessed by the U2? How are folders/files indexed and accessed? How straightforward is it todelete and add folders/files?

(Unlike L1) L2 supports SMB. So you may mount the SMB filesystem of L2 on your computer, and manage the folders / files on the computer in a similar way as NAS.

Yes, you may use this network configuration (which is what we used in Hong Kong High-End Audio Visual Show 2023):

Network router - (RJ45) - L2 with SFP module - (fiber) - U2 / P1 / X1 with SFP module
 
Hello, Peter. Did the ios app update today to 8.8.4; now playlist scroll bar is gone. forward and back arrows are gone (Back and Forward Navgation ON in Setup). I'm on iphone ios 16.6.

Tried these:
toggle settings
closed/reopened app
restart phone (powered off)
 
We tested iPhone XR iOS 16.6.1 and cannot reproduce either of the symptom.

Which iPhone model is yours?

Have you applied any non-default iOS display or accessibility testing?

What theme color are you using?

I restored iphone just 2 weeks ago per thingswelike

Lumin nav arrows came back but no playlist scroll bar
time for new phone but poopie-ca-ca from Apple yesterday no help.
I’ll survive but frankly apple hassle factor high, I need to buy Lumin remote.
probably better to switch to different new phone/os

Do you mean you are running the 8th Gen iPhone as it it's how 6 models outdated? I don't think they can run the latest iOS on those phones, right? At some point the iOS is too old to run current app versions I would think as well.
 
7 models as of yesterday but it’s still supported and updated to current ios. but yeah. Still, calculator functions 1+1=2
