Wait until they hear an S1. They will have to invent the Double Golden Ear award.

Good that Lumin is acquiring recognition she deserves. TAS reviewed the A1 (only). I think the choice between A1 and S1 is basically personal preferences, not that one is better than the other in most aspects.

I hope next they make their app for other platforms to give the consumer more choice.

There will be even more compelling Android and Windows 10 devices from next month...

Please ask Lumin to port the app to the iPhone. I hate using the iPad as a remote. Unfortunately, the Kinsky iPhone app has a very serious deficiency that prevents it from being used.

FYI. The deficiency is that when using random shuffle there is no way to locate the current playing song in the displayed playlist. With a playlist in the thousands that is a lot of scrolling trying to locate the current track.

I wasn't able to find it before, but I guess the web site has been updated to include it:

Lumin A-1 Audiophile Network Player

I haven’t been shy about expressing my reservations about computer audio—mostly it seems like too much work, and IMHO is a totally unsexy way to enjoy music. However, by mostly (not entirely) eliminating the need for a computer, the Lumin A-1 player has proven to be the exception. It’s capable of pulling audio media from most external digital sources, including a NAS, plus its dual-mono Wolfson DACs play back a multitude of formats up to and including 32-bit/384kHz PCM/DXD and standard DSD. Operating wirelessly through its own graphically superb iPad app, the A-1 releases the reins of sonic tension and dryness that constrain many digital recordings, adding warmth and weightier presence even to mundane 16-bit/44kHz recordings. I’ve also noted over the months that Lumin makes sure its products are well supported with regular software and firmware updates, and, most recently, Tidal support. It’s so good that it’s the “computer” I’ve come to accept as a high-end source component.

My Lumin D1 is awesome. With the external power supply, sounds great!
