I've gotta confess. I might be an analog guy at heart, but that doesn't stop me from loving Tidal. In fact, I don't think that I spent anything on audio in 2015.

Nothing.

No gear at all that I can recall. Just Tidal. Ok and a few 78s. But that was it. No other lps. No CDs. No sacd. No files. 2015 was the year that I started to question the need to *own* digital music. I'll still buy vinyl and shellac and I'm already working on a new table (for the family) this year, but digital...not convinced that having a digital library is worth it for me. I can tell it might be going the way of the cassette tape anyway because my kids - 10 and 8 - are confused by the idea of downloading and storing a song.

For me that means that the idea of hard drives, network solutions, etc etc might not be happening. I keep trying to get into it, but even though the idea of higher resolution music is appealing, I'm just not feeling it. This might be based on my longstanding frustration with maintaining digital storage. Raise your hand if you know where all of your photos are... Maybe it's just that I think Tidal is pretty darn good. It tops out at 16/44.1. Just like my DAC:

I agree with you about Tidal HiFi, it's completely addicting with a great DAC. Reading a review and then being able to immediately hear a referenced recording is awesome!

I tried Tidal a few months ago and it seemed lime the library of music available was
definitely limited. Maybe I should revisit. I use Slacker for background music and when the family wants to hear top 40 stuff. I still have about 20K songs in Apple Lossless in my library. vinyl is only in my dedicated room. Digital for the 3 other systems in my home plus the 2 systems in our motorhome. Always good to have "your" music to listen to.

I subscribed about a week ago, and I'm like a kid in a candy store. My head is spinning thinking of all the albums I used to have, or wished I had, during the last 50 years. I even took a trip down memory lane to my college days, and was listening to Grand Funk Railroad. They sure sound different on my current system versus what I had back then.
