Hi all,

I want to add a pair of subwoofers to my system. I have a pair of Vivid speakers and am thinking either Rel S or Jl Fathom. My question is given the rather small dimensions (12.5" x 17 x 9) of my room, would I be benifit from a pair of 12" drivers or ya think 10 inchers would work?

TIA

I am a REL user myself and hence the recommendation is obvious [emoji3]. But REL do have a feature on their webpage for speaker/ sub matching, so you can check out their recommendation.

I would give a look at Rhythmik subs. Very comparable to subs in the $1600 range. Servo controlled, non-ported and they have a PEQ. Can be had with choice of aluminum or paper cone driver and have an XLR option. A friend of mine runs a pair with Magnepans. They integrate extremely well.

+1 on the Rythmik F12SE's. I run a pair with my Nola's using the speaker level inputs and I have no problem with integration. After over fifteen years with Vandersteen subs the speaker level connection seemed the normal method to me. They have dual 8" models if you want the smaller driver in all three finishes.

I've used sealed Rythmiks for over 13 years. Deep (way below 20hz) powerful and low distortion (all measurement verifiable). Reliable in my experience. The Rythmiks are for music lovers, not audiophile fashion followers seeking street cred with brand names XYZ. YMMV.

cheers,

AJ
