Anyone here have a pac and use the network input with j river
?? I ask as I using it. This is my own pac now. So far on pcm the network sounds very good.
Very low noise floor too. I do get some drop outs here and there but they can be fixed on buffer or something
i have been using usb and a IDEON Master re clocker
it has bettered my usb on each dac even though my severs are all lps
and network isolated too.
any input welcome

Al, I see you're using the Ideon 3r usb reclocker. I'm going to give it a try. I have two very different usb cables to use on either side of the 3r. One is the Sablon Panatela and the other is the Intona Ultimate. They will run between a Mac mini Roon Endpoint and Pacific Dac.

The Sablon is quite a bit more laid back and mellow compared to the Intona which is highly resolving, transparent and dynamic. A nice blending of the two could end up being ideal, though I could be very happy with either. If I had to pick only one, it would be the Intona.

I'll try both ways, but am curious, theoretically, which position-- between Mini and Reclocker or between Dac and Reclocker-- will most transmit the sound character of either usb cable?

The out to dac matters more and for what it’s worth a good approved usb 3.0 cable is good to have on hand. We must remember audio usb cables may not be to spec as a result may not sound best. whine some sound great some don’t I can attest to it. I use a older Paul pang red usb cable in and out. Please post results when you try it. We all lean from this.
